Cervical dilation (or cervical dilatation) is the opening of the cervix, the entrance to the uterus, during childbirth, miscarriage, induced abortion, or gynaecological surgery. Cervical dilation may occur naturally or may be induced by surgical or medical means.
Ovarian cysts are conventionally managed by laparoscopy or laparotomy. Twenty-two patients underwent fine needle aspiration of ovarian cysts under ultrasound control. Four patients were pregnant, and in two of these, aspiration of the cyst was performed transvaginally.

Hysteroscopy allows visualization of the inside of the uterus, including the openings to the Fallopian tubes, as well as direct examination of the cervix, cervical canal, and vagina.
